Yee-Hah! Time for Outdoor Cookin'! (And it's HEALTHY too)

Well, we are coming up on Fourth of July (and it is DAMN hot here in Vegas) so pick a nice shady spot underneath a tree and BBQ to your hearts content.  Here are some ideas to kick off the BBQ and not make you feeling bloated in the heat (wherever you are).

1.  MAKE A SPICE RUB FOR YOUR MEAT.  There are plenty of non-salt induced spice rubs that you can use for chicken or beef.  Make a mixture of olive oil, paprika, pepper, oregano, rosemary and thyme.  You can email me for a couple of great recipes.  Spices, in ANY dish, makes all of the difference.

2.  GRILL VEGGIES.  All you have to do is take a bunch of squash cut up, tomatoes, onions, red peppers, whatever.  Put a tiny bit of, yes again, olive oil and roast them for a few minutes over the open fire.  Delicious.

3.  FREEZE YOGURT.  Yes!  You can make yogurt pops in the freezer with non-fat yogurt, splenda, strawberries, mango, whatever is in season, stick it all in a blender, pour it and stick it in the freezer in an ice cube tray or mold and it's fantastic AND low cal and fat free!  This is one of my personal favorites.

4.  MAKE SUN TEA.  Stick a container out there in the sun with your favorite tea bags in it and let the sun do the work.  Then, put in the fridge for a while.  Later, pour into a glass and add ice.  Stupendous!

5.  MAKE VODKA COOLERS $100 DIET STYLE.  Just put a shot of vodka, fill the rest of the glass with no sodium sparkling water (like Perrier or Pellegrino) and add a twist of lime or lemon.  Hits the spot with VERY little calories and very refreshing.

Well, boys and girls, there are my tips.  If you had a "Day Off" recently and need a remedy for the holidays while enjoying your goodies, this is it!  I have found it most satisfying.

Cheers to the upcoming holiday....

Isn't this the MOST

Well, I found this online from Bombshell Betty and couldn't resist.  This is perfect for scribbling notes and such, like grocery lists, what you swore you wouldn't forget to do or even love notes (sigh).  Anyhow, I thought this was "the most", so I thought for no reason at all, I would post it.

Fitting, too, as I am STILL at the WSOP at the Rio and it's about to go into full swing tournaments.  Whoa.  Talk about people who need to lose belly fat.  Man-boobs and big butts and guts - Oh My!  Yes, a lot of it is quite hideous, but it gives me time to write to you fine folks while on my breaks.

Here's a tip...if you want to lose belly fat and you are working out but nothing is happening, here's what you do:  Work out in the morning BEFORE you eat.  Why, you ask?  Because as you are sleeping, your body is burning up calories just for normal body functions and you haven't eaten for a long time.  When you work out in the morning, your body doesn't really have too many calories to burn off and no carbs to burn off either.  It therefore "defaults" and will automatically burn fat fast, as it has nothing else to burn.  Then, eat promptly afterwards when done.  It works!

Well, back to chatting with poker players......

Being Calm DOES affect your Health! (And can make your even more charming)

Ever really thing about how being stressed-out or going off of the deep end does to your body (and your mind)? Well, there is a Big Big way to cope with those Big Big days that seem like they are never going to end.

Now I know a lot of us boys and girls live in big cities or metropolitan areas, so maybe escaping to nature is not in the immediate cards. So I found a few ways that may be able to de-stress that mess in your head when you feel like you are about to blow.

1. Take a salt bath. Salt actually cleanses and purges negative energy and impurities. Really! Didn't your mama ever tell you that? Honestly. Well, anyway, to make it more soothing, get some scented bath salts with lavender or juniper and imagine the bad energy flowing out of you and into the bath water. The mind is also a powerful tool, by the way.

2. Get one of those nature sounds on CD (yes, cheesy, but it does work - I actually like it). Here's one that might work, but there are several out there. Click here

3. Exercise. Get all of that pent up aggression out of you so you can feel relaxed and loosened up and therefore, you can sleep much better! Work out and see how to burn the fat fast while de-stressing.

4. Got a swimming pool? Know where to find one? Good! Go by yourself and just float. The water will support every muscle in the body, giving the mind less to do. And therefore, you automatically relax!

5. Do something that YOU like to do. Didn't read that good book yet? Haven't seen that good friend in a week or two? Do something that you like to do for a change.

I hope this helps. I know the economy sucks and pressure can be all around, but try not to let it get you down. And as a side note: In old-fashioned charm schools, they used to teach young ladies in training to NEVER show stress or look like you are rushed. A lady of class is always in control and charmingly calm. Something for us girls to think about.

Rocking on into the week....

BLT at the Mirage is Where It's AT

Well, I waited all week to go have my big Day Off and at midnight, I went with my love to the Mirage Hotel and Casino for drinks and low and behold, we were starving! Yes, it's true. So anyhow, we ended up at this restaurant called BLT and ordered gourmet burgers. I suggest the Tandoori Lamb burger. My love had the Shaft's Blue Burger, with excellent bleu cheese and caramelised onions and mushrooms. And I highly suggest the Vidalia Onion Rings, as they are not greasy and soggy, it's almost like they are baked. Everything was excellent and the burgers just melt in your mouth. Don't ever settle for some mediocre burger, boys and girls - get more BANG for your buck and treat yourself really right...in more ways then one, it's so good (wink wink). You know what I mean.

Now, I am not going to subject you to one of my rants, but I must say this - why would you want to put a bunch or crappy food in your beautiful selves when there is so much good, clean and DELICIOUS food out there? What drives me nuts is when people get lazy and just eat ANYTHING. That is so no my style. That is NOT how I roll. If you want your body to feel better overall, be conscious of what you put in it! Have that wonderful gourmet burger, have that fresh handmade pasta with made-from-scratch vodka sun-dried tomato cream sauce, eat that just-baked-today carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, but you bet your ass if I'm eating it, it's going to be FRESH. Ok, I am done.

If you are lucky enough to be a Vegas local or you happen to be blowing through town, visit BLT at the Mirage. And say hey to Kay at the Kokomo. Great Long Islands.

Yes, and I know that the picture today doesn't make any since, but I liked it anyway. Be sure to check out The $100 Diet for delicious gourmet recipes, down home cooking recipes and excellent low fat recipes for those days you have to be a "good girl".

Give me a ring! (Or you can send me an email too!)

People are sending me emails lately asking for advice....how to lose belly fat, how to lose weight fast, what should they eat or stay away from in the summer months - and I LOVE IT! Keep 'em coming, because this is a subject I like to talk about and I know that we can all do it and be the foxiest we can be!

So please send me emails anytime asking anything at all. If you don't have it already, you can send messages to me personally at info@thepinupgirldiet.com and I will be sure to answer you as soon as I can.

An answer to someone's recent email: In the summertime, I would stay away from the starches and the breads more than usual, as you know girls, it SUCKS when you feel bloated and have to run around in a cute little outfit. You just feel plain fidgety and grumpy. Well, at least I do. So, I stick to more of a low carb diet in the summer.

Catcha later, and I promise, I will get back to regular posts once my current engagement ends!

Say...let's all pack ourselves a picnic to take to work!

I know that I have been away for a few days, boys and girls, but I have been booked SOLID for the last nine days straight! It's either feast or famine, I tell you. I am almost done with my engagement but I had some time (and a revelation) so I thought I would write it for you.

As I have been pretty much a good girl when it came to sticking to my regime the last nine days (except I had two cookies finally yesterday), I have packing my lunch/dinner down to a science. I pretty much have been making a picnic everyday. Now you probably are wondering what I am saying. Well, I'll tell you. Instead of making the boring lunches we all hate to pack for work/gigs, I throw in a hodge-podge of everything....one day I had fingerfoods-olives, cheese, pickles, chicken, apples and rice cakes, and another day I had made cut up tomatoes, onions, cilantro and spinach with rice wine vinegar dressing and smoked oysters and cheese, (which is just one the easy low carb recipes I have under my belt). I actually began to have fun taking the time to pack for lunch/dinner. And I stuck to my regime! Now when this engagement is over, I will thank the stars above and make one of my favorites...mango and chicken salad with bleu cheese dressing. Hooray! And I make the chicken with this secret cumin spice mix that's really good with the mango. But I won't tell! You have to get the book to find out!

I am also about to release an additional cookbook with recipes that are oh-so-decadent but good. I also have a section that contains very tasty, flavorful and easy low fat recipes for those Days On. It should be released on the iPhone and other smart phones within 30 days and the book is called The $100 Diet Presents THE OFFICIAL "Come and Get It" Recipe Book. It'll be fabulous!

Anyhow, try the picnic route....it works when on the go and keeping to your "plans".

Cheers, and yes...thanks a lot

Bike Ride

I ate the best food tonight! At the Palace Station they have an Oyster Bar called Oyster Bar. Ironic, eh? Anyhow, they are famed in town for the best seafood and gumbo in Vegas. I am not a gambler in this casino, as the vibe is not my bag. But I just went the Oyster Bar tonight (my honey took me) and it was to DIE for. Very heavy on the cream and the seafood was delightful. So, as you can guess, it was a Day Off....fitting for Memorial Day.

Afterward, I went for a bike ride around downtown Las Vegas with my sweetheart and my very good friend Mary Joy. Mary Joy is THE Fashionista of Very Vintage Vegas headed by Jack Levine, who knows a lot about vintage property in Las Vegas. We rode all over the place, and she assists me on my next property acquirements. My point is, after the heavy meal I ate at the Oyster Bar, even though I had exercised that day, I felt GREAT exercising again in a fun way by riding around on my bicycle for over an hour. And at night in Vegas, it's GORGEOUS. I can honestly say that the days can be painful with this kind of heat, but the nights are delicious and perfect to ride a bike everynight...after the sun goes down, of course.

Tuesday, as I have a private modeling function to go to at the Palms Casino and Resort, so I have to get more into the good girl mode....no more fun for me after tomorrow - but I will be making Memphis-style pork ribs with cold white bean and garlic tomato salad...you can find the recipe in my book if you are interested....

Cheers, and the best to everyone coming back from the Memorial Day weekend.

XOXO

Ok - Today we are going to learn about TIKI Culture, Boys and Girls......

OK....anybody who's anybody knows what it means when something is referred to as Tiki, RIGHT?

Well, I guess not....but it is one of the stylistic things I like from the past and still enjoy today. I thought I would just give a bit of the history behind Tiki make you cats fall further in love with it and appreciate it all the more. Ready?

"Tiki exotica was introduced with Martin Denny's Waikiki nightclub combo cum jungle noises cover of Baxter's Quiet Village. Tiki rode a wave of popularity in the late 1950s and early 1960s marked by the entrance of Hawaii as the 50th state in 1959 and the introduction of Tiki hut bars and restaurants around the continental United States.

Soon came integration of the idea into music by artists like Les Baxter, Arthur Lyman, and Martin Denny, who blended the Tiki idea throughjazz augmented with Polynesian, Asian, and Latin instruments and "tropical" themes creating the Exotica genre. This music blended the elements of Afro-Cuban rhythms, unusual instrumentations, environmental sounds, and lush romantic themes from Hollywood movies, topped off with evocative titles like "Jaguar God", into a cultural hybrid native to nowhere.

Tiki exotica has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity, and Tiki mugs and torches that once collected dust in thrift stores are now hot items, largely because of their camp value."

See, now that wasn't so bad! It's always fun to learn! HA!

And I apologize for it being a few days, I was visiting family out of town and couldn't get the time to myself to write. But now I am back.

Make-Over Weekend A Comin'

SO -
I am visiting my baby sister this weekend and we are going to have a pow-wow make-over weekend, complete with manicures, pedicures, hair treatments, skin exfoliation and the works. We do this every time we see each other and have alone time so we can look extra hot for our significant others. And we have a lot of laughs and a few cocktails. It's great.
I am saying this early so if anyone wants to make plans by the weekend and have nothing going on, this may be something to do! It's lots of fun and very relaxing. And it's a great time especially with your siblings, mother, aunt, whatever.
By the way, me and my significant other have been watching Bewitched on DVD the last couple of days and it's fantastic. Talk about fantasy and fun. Remember that show? I used to watch re-runs of it on Channel 13 in L.A. when I was a kid at my grandmother's house. I used to even watch it with my great grandmother back then. She lived well into her nineties eating her See's Candies and drinking iced coffee, vodka, cream and ice cubes at every happy hour. Funny.
My fourth album is picking up steam and I am spending time finishing that in the next couple months and I shall be performing in Vegas. So I have to stay trim and fit and FOXY. Which I will, of course.
One of my tracks from my EP is on an EMI Europe Comp selling in Greece right now. Yikes!
Rambling now, gotta get some sleep. Happy Thursday, Everybody!!!
Cheers,
RCJ

Be a Pin Up for the Day (if you're visiting Cupertino!)

I found a great place in the Bay Area for those gals located up there and I was impressed with this modern day photographer's style. If you are interested in being photographed by someone that seems to care a great deal about the art of pin up and the overall look, you may want to give her a call.
